Renuka Devi Temple (Maharashtra) Mahur, known as a very significant pilgrim center, features the abodes of the three and a half goddesses in the state of Maharashtra. Renuka Devi Temple, Mahur is considered as a revered shrine for the Maa Shakti. This place is the sacred abode of the goddess Renuka, the mother of Parshuram, an incarnation of Vishnu. It is believed that the temple has been constructed about eight or nine hundred years ago. There are carved caves in the hills around Mahur. How to Reach: By Bus: There are Maharashtra state transport buses that go from Nagpur, Amrawati, Akola, Nanded, Kinwat, Yavatmal and Pusad to Mahur. By Rail: The nearest railway station is Kinwat which is 50 KM away, but Nanded which is 126 KM. is the more convenient railway station on South Central railway. By Air: Nearest Airport is Nagpur, 200 kms. Accommodation Facilities: Accommodation facilities are available in Mahur city (7 km from the temple). All types of accommodation facilities are available like lodges, hotels, government rest houses. For more luxurious options, at a distance of about 70 km, Yavatmal is the best option. Foods served by local hotels, Dhabas (roadside eateries for the travelers) are of good quality and served fresh. Other top attractions to visit All three important temples — Renuka Mata Temple, Lord Dattatreya Temple and Anusaya Mata Temple — are built on three mountain ranges. 1. Lord Dattatreya Temple: This is one of the most famous Dattatreya Peethas of Lord Dattaytrya. The beautiful structure and religious significance makes this temple a must visit. 2. Devdeveshwar Temple: This beautiful temple is considered as the nidra sthan (sleeping place) of Lord Dattatreya. It is situared at elevated outskirt of Mahur town and is 2 km far from Mahur bus stand. It is believed that even today Shree Dattatreya swami comes to sleep here. Points to remember: • The temple is mostly crowded on Tuesdays and Fridays. One can avoid by visiting the temple early morning. • The aarti is normally at 11.30 am. • There are around 175 steps to climb and one can buy flowers, coconut etc till the last step so no need to carry from downstairs. • Main prasad of Renuka Devi is Tambul. It's powder form of Paan (Betel leaf) and other ingredients. One can get that at temple.
